As I was headed down Bernard a little past 8 this frigid morning, I passed a couple hammering up on their tandem. I am so mesmerized. Probably because I know any such attempt in our own lives will surely end in divorce. Waxy, polished, succulent, forbidden fruit.

When Kathy and I got our tandem (going on 10 years now) we were warned it was a "marriage validation device." The key, unfortunately for me so I had to work at it real hard, is communication skills. But it's a great way to enjoy a ride together. No guilt from leaving one behind or anger from being left. No frustration from waiting or from not being able to keep up.
